40 minutes of press conference. It was a relaxed and studious Olivier Frapolli who held his press conference on Monday afternoon at the Gandonnières training center. The Mayenne coach is not yet on vacation and is already working on the transfer market and the preparation for the Ligue 2 season. Here is the main information
3 players extend the adventure
Olivier Frapolli has confirmed that three players have accepted a one-year contract extension (+ an optional year if they stay in Ligue 2). They are defender Marvin Baudry, midfielder Ryan Ferhaoui and third goalkeeper Théo Châtelain.
Out-of-contract players
Five players will no longer wear the Stade Lavallois jersey: Maxence Carlier, Baptiste Etcheverria, Ambroise Gboho, Atila Fontinha and Randi Goteni. They were received by the club before National’s last game in Orléans last Friday.
Future in suspense
Two players are still in uncertainty to this day: striker Sofiane Barroug (20 years old) who has played five National games and who has shown satisfaction. But also Yazid Aït-Moujane. “We are thinking about having them sign a first professional contract with the objective of lending them in stride so that they go harden up. We don’t yet have all the legal and financial answers on signing a first pro contract to a player under 23. Can we do this without paying training allowances which are dissuasive? Can we lend them? We are waiting for feedback from the French Federation and the League to validate all this“says Olivier Frapolli.
Objective: 7 recruits
Laval makes free Ligue 2 players a priority for its recruitment. But the leaders are keeping an eye on profiles who are still evolving in National and who have the potential for the second division. In the offensive sector Laval could also be loaned a Ligue 1 player who has little playing time at his club. Olivier Frapolli assures him: no agreement has been reached with new footballers for the moment. Not even with Anthony Gonçalves whose return to Mayenne has been announced for several days. “It’s no secret, we approached him” recognizes all the same the coach.
About Bryan Goncalves, revelation this season in central defense. He is still officially a Stade Lavallois player but several Ligue 1 teams are interested. “We will not retain it (…) after finding a left-handed person at his post it is very complicated“continues Olivier Frapolli.
Resumption June 20
Stade Lavallois players return to Les Gandonnières on June 20. They will then leave for an internship, not at Échologia in Louverné like last year but at the Château du Bois Guy in Parigné near Fougères. “It is a place that develops high-level football camps. There are amazing facilities with a pitch that is at the foot of the rooms. This is where AC Ajaccio did an internship last summer before playing us in a friendly. That’s how we got the info. We went then in the year to visit the facilities and the person who manages it is the president of the Fougères football club“explains Olivier Frapolli.
