Brooke Henderson of Smiths Falls, Ont., briefly found herself in contention midway through the round but fell behind after making two bogeys on the back nine and shooting a 1-under 71.
The holder of 13 career LPGA Tour titles shot a 67 on Friday at Le Golf National, giving her hope of winning a medal at the end of the final round.
Henderson finished his tournament with a cumulative score of 285 (-3).
New Zealand’s Lydia Ko led at -9 with a few holes to go in the final round. Germany’s Esther Henseleit (66) was back in the chalet at -8, followed by China’s Xiyu Lin (69) at -7.
Alena Sharp of Hamilton, Ont., shot a 73 for a 9-over total.
