Golden Knights | Robin Lehner will miss the entire 2022-23 season

(Las Vegas) The Vegas Golden Knights have announced they expect goaltender Robin Lehner to miss the entire 2022-23 season with a hip injury.

The team announced on Thursday that Lehner will need surgery and that the timeline for getting the 31-year-old Swede back in shape is undetermined.

In 44 games last winter, Lehner went 23-17-2 with a 2.83 GAA and .907 save percentage.

Lehner had shoulder surgery in May and was expected to recover in time for the start of Golden Knights camp in September.

This injury had bored him at the end of the campaign and his failures, like his absence, undermined the efforts of the Golden Knights. The latter were excluded from the playoffs for the first time in their history.

Lehner is still under contract for three seasons and receives an average annual salary of 5 million US.

The Golden Knights also have goaltenders Laurent Brossoit, Michael Hutchinson, Logan Thompson, Jiri Patera and Isaiah Saville under contract.

Brossoit and Hutchinson have the most NHL experience, with 106 and 137 senior games, respectively. Brossoit, however, had hip surgery during the offseason.

Meanwhile, Thompson, 25, represented Canada at the World Championships this spring.
