Check the cheese in your refrigerator. Many varieties of raw milk goat cheese are subject to a recall, issued Monday April 22, due to the presence of listeria, the bacteria responsible for listeriosis. These cheeses were sold in U, Leclerc, Intermarché, Casino shop, Carrefour, Proxi and Sherpa stores between March 4 and April 9, details the government site Rappel Conso.

The cheeses affected by this recall were produced by the Blanc cheese factory. Many varieties are concerned: the palet, the savaget, the fusette, the Sainte-Maure, the crottin, the log, the pavement, the wheel, the tricorn, the pyramid, the pictou, the arc, the flower of Japan, the chabis, the kid, the tower, the heart, the fresh puck, the fresh Gâtinais crottin and the Gâtinais cut. The recall sheet adds that these products were “potentially” sold “on the cut shelf” and that it is appropriate to “contact the point of sale to find out if the product is affected by the recall”. Consumers are encouraged to throw these products away or return them to the store.

“People who have consumed the products mentioned above and who present with fever, isolated or accompanied by headaches, and body aches, are invited to consult their doctor and report this consumption”adds the reminder. “Pregnant women as well as immunocompromised people and the elderly should be particularly attentive to these symptoms”it is also specified.
