The California squad had a surplus of goaltenders with James Reimer and Kaapo Kahkonen scheduled to fill the top two positions.

The Knights, meanwhile, were looking for a goaltender in Robin Lehner who could miss the entire season due to hip surgery.

The status of substitute Laurent Brossoit is also uncertain after he also had hip surgery this summer.

Hill played 25 games with the Sharks last season, going 10-11-1 with a 2.66 goals-against-average and .906 save percentage.

He started his career with the Arizona Coyotes. In 74 career games, he is 29-32-5 with a 2.74 GAA and .908 save percentage.
