GMC wants to exploit a strong trend – no pun intended – in the luxury segment. A very profitable strategy for manufacturers. The ubiquity of leather and the use of moldings made of wood with exposed pores would have been unthinkable for this kind of pickup just a few years ago.

Moreover, the juggernaut is still driven by a duo of V8s. The 6.6L gasoline engine produces 401 hp and 464 lb-ft. The same-displacement turbodiesel option gets a series of tweaks to boost low-end torque. It produces 470 hp and 975 lb-ft of torque. Both are mated to an Allison 10-speed transmission. The towing capacity fluctuates between 9934 kg and 16,323 kg with the diesel engine. On sale early next year.
