A few weeks after the Chevrolet Silverado, it is now the turn of the GMC Sierra to unveil its game for its 2022 vintage. The brand has mainly focused on two new versions: one dedicated to off-road and another seeking to take care of the splendor of the model, a transition highlighted by a cabin that we want much more refined.

GMC thus wants to fill the delay accumulated over the years concerning the execution of its interiors, whose materials did not offer a rendering as beautiful as that of the Ram 1500, for example. This rival from Stellantis had raised the expectations of customers in the segment a few years ago thanks to a much more accomplished attention to detail.

The interior of the 2022 GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate

The new Denali Ultimate livery tackles this problem head-on. Exposed-pore wood moldings and embossed leathers used throughout support its status. By this very fact, we also want to increase profit margins, which are particularly high on the versions most equipped with vans.

The AT4X livery, on the other hand, is basically a slightly more luxurious version of the Chevrolet Silverado ZR2. It therefore wants to coax off-road enthusiasts with its two electronic locking differentials, its DSSV shock absorbers with greater travel from the supplier Multimatic and the addition of various protections under the chassis.

The front end of the Sierra has also been redesigned by better incorporating the headlights into the grille which forms a more homogeneous whole. A new 13.4-inch infotainment display and configurable second instrumentation display are built into the plusher Sierra liveries. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wireless are among its strengths, as is the compatibility with Google applications.

On the mechanical side, it’s all the same for this Sierra. The portait consists of a 2.7L turbo four-cylinder that has been slightly revised to increase torque and reliability (420 lb-ft), a 3.0L turbodiesel inline-six and two 5.3L and 6.2L V8s

On sale from dawn of 2022.
