Glastonbury Festival | Dua Lipa, SZA, Shania Twain: female artists headlining

(London) The legendary Glastonbury festival, in the southwest of England, announced Thursday numerous female headliners including Dua Lipa, Sza and Shania Twain, and also the return of Coldplay, unveiling its lineup for the 2024 edition.

Organizers drew criticism from fans last year by not scheduling any women on the main stage. They did not make the same mistake for the next edition, which will take place from June 26 to 30.

“I’ve dreamed of this moment my whole life,” British singer Dua Lipa reacted on Instagram after the announcement of her performance on the prestigious Pyramid Stage on Friday evening.

This hit-making machine, who will release a third album, has promised “an unforgettable night” at Glastonbury, his “favorite place on Earth”.

American R&B singer SZA, who won three Grammys in February, is also expected on the Pyramid Stage. She had never been to Glastonbury before.

PJ Harvey, Cindy Lauper, Janelle Monae will also be there.

The Canadian Shania Twain, known in particular for her hits Man! I Feel Like A Woman! And You’re Still The Oneand who has sold more than 100 million albums in his career, will be on stage on Sunday afternoon, in the coveted “Legends” slot.

“There is a sort of cachet associated with this niche. And I feel that there I am, I have reached this niche,” she reacted on Radio 2.

Coldplay is once again among the headliners. This will be their fifth concert on the Pyramid Stage, a record. Their first appearance dates back to 2002.

Many other artists are expected: Little Simz, LCD Soundsystem, Burna Boy, The Last Dinner Party and even Camila Cabello and Avril Lavigne.

But it’s already too late to buy tickets. Tickets for this edition were snapped up in November in less than an hour.

You had to pay £355 and five pounds booking fees to be able to pitch your tent – very often in the rain and mud – and enjoy the concerts at this festival, one of the best known in the world.

Since its birth in 1970, “Glasto”, which takes place in the English countryside, has seen the biggest stars parade. The 2023 edition ended with the last British concert of Elton John’s farewell tour.
