On August 1, they had already been demoted in the first instance by the National Management Control Directorate (DNCG). The representatives of the Girondins, who contested this decision, were heard this Monday, August 12, before the appeal committee to try to obtain their maintenance in National. Finally, the verdict remains unchanged and the appeal is rejected. The Girondins de Bordeaux will no longer play in National 1 next season.

The financial authority was not convinced by the management. As a last resort, the Girondins may also request conciliation before the French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF). For the time being, the club has not yet reacted.

But time is running out. The National championship resumes on August 16, National 2 the following day. The Girondins, owned by the Spanish-Luxembourgish businessman Gerard Lopez, have abandoned their professional status acquired in 1937, terminated the players’ contracts and dissolved their training center. A social plan is also looming for the club’s employees (90 administrative employees, in addition to the professional players).
