In Gironde and Landes, more than 6,000 evacuations and 6,000 ha of devastated forest
The fire which broke out in the south of Gironde, in the municipalities of Hostens, Saint-Magne and Cabanac-et-Villagrains, spread to the Landes department on the night of Tuesday 9 to Wednesday 10 august. “We are approaching a day of very great risk”said Martin Guespereau, delegate prefect of the Gironde, during a press briefing on Wednesday morning.
These fires burned 6,000 hectares, according to an updated report. These are resumptions of the historic Landiras fire, which ravaged more than 13,000 hectares last July. “The fire of July had not stopped, it was never declared extinct, it was buried”says Martin Guespereau.

The fire was considered “fixed”, it was no longer progressing, but it had not been declared under control for fear of a recovery, specify the firefighters of Gironde. In the Landes, the prefecture carried out 215 evacuations. Among the evacuees, 48 are housed in the village hall of Moustey, the others have found a solution through family or friends. “At this stage, no homes are affected by the flames”on the Landes side, specifies the prefecture of the department.
Two Landes firefighters were slightly injured last night. The first was slightly injured in an incident with a truck, the second was burned in the calves and evacuated to the Hospital Center of Mont-de-Marsan. A total of 500 firefighters are mobilized, with the support of civil security water bombers.
In Lozère and Aveyron, the fire is no longer progressing
The fire that straddled Lozère and Aveyron on Monday, in the Tarn gorges, has not progressed since Tuesday afternoon after having devastated 700 hectares. 3,000 people were evacuated and 600 firefighters are still mobilized.
In Maine-et-Loire, firefighters hampered by a stock of explosives
In Baugé-en-Anjou, in the north of the department, a fire started on Monday afternoon ravaged 1,240 hectares on Wednesday morning. 377 firefighters are mobilized but are hampered by the exclusion zone of the Beauregard demining camp, where explosives from the Second World War are stored which were affected by the flames. 80 evacuations took place, but the firefighters managed to save the 22 sites threatened by the flames.

In the Drôme, the fire is not under control
286 hectares burned in Romeyer, near Die. The fire was not under control Wednesday morning, being in a mountainous area difficult to access. 280 firefighters are mobilized.
In Isère, the Voreppe fire is conscripted
In Voreppe, the fire which took place on August 5 in the Chartreuse massif, in a steep area very close to homes, ravaged 130 hectares but has not progressed since Tuesday evening.
94 firefighters are still mobilized and the 170 people who had still not been able to return home on Tuesday are invited to return to their homes.
In Charente, the Boisbreteau fire is also fixed
The Boisbreteau fire in Charente is fixed after ravaging 150 hectares between Monday and Wednesday. 300 firefighters were mobilized, the thirty evacuees were able to return home.
