Gironde, Aveyron, Jura, Finistère… We take stock of the current forest fires

Several major fires have resumed in recent days, particularly in Gironde and Aveyron. The rain calms the game in Aveyron, but the “fire is still active”

Firefighters remain mobilized. They are more than 600 still on site. Reinforcements are expected. Seven preventive evacuations were carried out last night and no new evacuations are planned at this stage according to the authorities.

In the Jura, the fire resumed

The fires resumed in the Jura, Saturday August 13 in the middle of the afternoon, because of the wind and high temperatures. An additional 150 hectares went up in smoke in the Vescles and Cernon sector, bringing the number of hectares ravaged to 930, according to the latest report from the prefecture of the department reported on Sunday August 14 by France Bleu Besançon. As a precaution, it has prohibited access to the forests and woods of more than 220 municipalities, on foot, by bicycle or with a vehicle, until the end of the month. Two municipalities were evacuated yesterday at the end of the day.

In the Monts d’Arrée, no significant progression of the flames

The rekindled fire in the Monts d’Arrée, in Finistère, is still ongoing in the areas of Berrien and Brasparts but it is no longer progressing significantly, franceinfo learned from the Finistère prefecture this Sunday.

A few hearths and fumaroles persist in places. On the Brasparts side, 17 resumptions of fire were dealt with on Saturday, including 4 during the night from Saturday to Sunday. The area is under surveillance by firefighters in the Brennilis sector despite the absence of visible hot spots. Since July, more than 2,000 hectares have gone up in smoke in this sector.

Fires set in Morbihan and Maine-et-Loire

The fire which broke out on the night of Thursday August 11 to Friday August 12 near Campénéac, in Morbihan, is “fixed and under active surveillance”, announces the prefecture this Sunday morning. He destroyed 400 hectares of the Brocéliande forest, after “a big fire resumption during the night” from Saturday to Sunday. 180 firefighters are mobilized.

In addition, in Maine-et-Loire, a fire burned 160 hectares in the sectors of Trélazé and Loire-Authion, a few kilometers from Angers. He is “fixed and mastered” this Sunday noon, announces the prefecture of Maine-et-Loire on Twitter. Another forty firefighters remain on site to extinguish the residual fires.
