Like all animators, Paul Arcand has a limited time to conduct his interviews. The news is abundant and his morning show at 98.5 FM is going full throttle. Also, when he was offered to sit down with Ginette Reno to lead a long interview broadcast at prime time, he did not hide his pleasure.

In this interview without filters – we don’t dictate questions to Paul Arcand – he questions the 76-year-old performer on the sidelines of the release of his autobiography “Ginette” and his most recent album, “It’s all me” .
“He’s a strong personality. I felt there was an opening and he is not someone who avoids questions. I’ve met her often in interviews and she always gives the impression of being in control, but it’s an appearance that you discover while reading the book, ”said Paul Arcand.

The host did not hesitate to discuss with the singer because she “is worth it” and that “she has lived”.
He questions her on a host of subjects, including her obsessions, her diets, her relationship with money, the men in her life, her international career which never took off and he is also interested in the marriage of a member of the Hells Angels where she sang, which, let us remember, had raised passions at the time.
“She doesn’t talk about this episode in the book. I’m not saying that she was super happy that I told her about it in the interview, but at the same time she responded,” said Paul Arcand in an interview with the QMI Agency.

And Ginette Reno’s answer to this question: “I did it for Claude Blanchard. Claude lied to me, he wasn’t honest with me. I made a mistake,” she says.
Ginette Reno, who also sings during the special, discusses her difficult childhood in a “dysfunctional family”. Her parents were violent and her mother, in particular, said mean things to her that stayed with her all her life.
“I knew that there were a little more delicate subjects, I think of his parents and the men who marked his life. At the same time, we went around, we talked about her career, the opportunities she had, the great encounters she was able to make. This is where you realize the magnitude of the character. The interview lasted 90 minutes in total, we could not put everything, we present what we think we should remember from Ginette Reno.
The singer shares reflections on her life and one of the highlights, thanks to the archives, is her passage on the Plains alongside Celine Dion, in 2008, for the 400th anniversary of the City of Quebec. “It remains two unnatural characters. Even me, who is not a brawler, when we replay the extract on the Plains, it still comes to pick me up, ”said Paul Arcand.
Documentaries
The host, who will leave the helm of his morning show at 98.5 FM in June 2024, does not yet know what he will do next, but the world of documentaries continues to interest him. “I’m not retiring, I just want to slow down a bit. I have two or three documentary subjects.”
