Gims Shares Bold Career Plans Following His Triumph at the Victoires de la Musique

Gims celebrated his illustrious music career at the 40th Victoires de la Musique, receiving the male artist of the year award. Reflecting on his journey, he reminisced about past successes and expressed gratitude to his supporters. However, he stirred emotions by hinting that his current tour might be his last, emphasizing the importance of evolving as an artist. Gims confirmed his final performance is set for December 20, 2025, at the Défense Arena, marking the end of a remarkable two-decade journey.

Gims Reflects on His Stellar Career

With a string of popular hits such as “I’m leaving,” “Bella,” “Change,” and “Dressed like never before,” Gims has made a significant impact in the music industry. On February 14, 2025, during the prestigious 40th Victoires de la Musique ceremony, the 38-year-old artist was honored with the title of male artist of the year. Reflecting on his journey, he shared, “I have memories in this place… 2016… It was the song of the year, voted by the public. It was an incredible moment with ‘Dressed like never before.’ Today, receiving this honor from the professionals feels different, but it’s truly special.” After accepting his award from comedian Gad Elmaleh, Gims expressed heartfelt gratitude to those who supported his career, which has seen him sell over five million records.

Gims Announces Possible End of Touring

During the event, Gims dropped a bombshell regarding his future in touring. “I’m currently on a full tour, just returning from Rouen, which was amazing… I’ve been making music for 20 years now, so thank you,” he remarked. He then revealed a significant decision: “This may be my last tour.” His announcement left the audience at the Seine Musicale feeling disheartened. In an interview with BFMTV, he elaborated, “I’ve experienced tremendous highs and some lows. It’s essential for everyone to face their challenges and emerge renewed. As artists, we constantly strive to evolve. Sometimes, we think we have the next big hit, but that’s not always the case. There are times when we feel it’s time to step back.”

Considering that he has reached a pivotal moment in his career, Gims stated, “I’ve partaken in many experiences early on; I believe this will be my last tour. It feels beautiful to conclude on a high note, and I don’t want to jeopardize what I’ve built. I’ve faced my share of obstacles, and I aim to avoid returning to that place. It’s been a remarkable 20 years.” Although he has “many songs” ready, he confirmed that his final performance is scheduled for December 20, 2025, at the Défense Arena. This announcement, while bittersweet for his fans, aligns with previous discussions he had about potentially ending his touring career, a thought he mentioned he contemplates frequently.
