Gilles Villeneuve: a series of podcasts in tribute to the Quebec driver

On paper, there was virtually no chance that a young boy who tinkered with snowmobiles in Berthierville would make it to Formula 1. And not in any team, at Ferrari, the most prestigious!

Everything could have stopped several times, but Gilles Villeneuve managed to overcome the difficulties to achieve his goal.

There’s no need to romanticize its story to make it into a Hollywood movie. It is also surprising that in our southern neighbours, no director has looked into the story of Gilles, which is incredible in more ways than one.

On May 8, 2022, it will be 40 years to the day that the Quebec driver left us. The Car Guide has partnered with QUB Radio to pay tribute to Gilles Villeneuve with a series of podcasts. Our journalist Julien Amado went to meet the people who shared his life, from Berthierville to Ferrari. He was able to speak to childhood friends, members of his family, but also to people who rubbed shoulders with him during his career in Formula 1.

These testimonies allow us to better understand who Gilles Villeneuve was and the way in which he built his career. But also to understand how the driver from Berte became a Formula 1 legend, particularly in Italy where he has never been forgotten.

In pursuit of Gilles Villeneuve is a series of podcasts that traces the career of the famous Quebec driver. The first episodes will be broadcast from May 5 on QUB Radio and all podcast platforms.
