Gilbert Bécaud: His 2 companions got pregnant only a few months apart

This Friday, October 7, France 3 broadcast a new episode of the documentary Secret Archives entitled “The Time of Love”. This new issue was devoted to old love stories, notably between Stone and ChardenBetween France Gall and Michel Berger but also on the conquests of Gilbert Becauddied on December 18, 2001 at the age of 74.

In the 1960s, then at the height of his popularity, Gilbert Bécaud was father of three children with his wife Monique whom he married in 1952: Gayaborn in February 1953 and died on September 28, 2022, Philip born in 1957 then a daughter, Anna born in 1965 and died on September 3, 2019 in the fire that erupted at her home. The same year, in 1965, Gilbert Bécaud gave birth to another daughter, Jennifer. This is the fruit of her relationship with the British dancer Janet Woollacott who was the companion of Claude François with whom she separated in 1962 before officially divorcing in 1967.

He filmed all the time, that was his thing

When she separated from Gilbert Bécaud, Janet Woollacott found herself a single mother and was still (legally) married to Claude François. The latter takes the opportunity to adopt little Jennifer. “He took advantage of this artistic blur to recognize me before dad. I carried his name for six years: I had the mention ‘Jennifer François’ on my passport. It was a little revenge for him!, exposes the main concerned in the France 3 documentary. At the same time, during this period, Gilbert Bécaud saw a love affair with Cathryn Lee St. John say Kitty. They gave birth to a daughter, Emily in 1972. In an article published in Le Figaro of Friday September 9, 2022 (the day on which the documentary was to be broadcast on France 3 but the programming being upset by the death of Queen Elizabeth II), Emily Bécaud returned to the love life of her father Gilbert: “There was no getaway from either other or Mom (Cathryn Lee St. John) would be gone, what tied them together was the humor. He (his father) filmed all the time, it was his thing. There are hours and hours of rushes. He needed to anchor his life on film, he staged it.”
