Gaya Becaud is no more. Gilbert Bécaud’s son died at the age of 69, announced Laurent Marsick, journalist and friend on social networks. The causes of death have not been specified at this time.
Gaya Becaud is dead. Gilbert Bécaud’s son died at the age of 69. It was his friend and journalist Laurent Marsick who shared the sad news on his Twitter account: “Gaya Bécaud has left us. Eldest son of the great Gilbert Bécaud. Gaya was 69 years old. We owe him hundreds of jingles and antenna designs. He also accompanied the first steps of Laurent Gerra on RTL” he specified. The radio was a bit like his home since Gaya Bécaud had spent more than three decades as creative director at RTL.
If the causes of his disappearance have not been revealed for the moment, one thing is certain: the war of inheritance around the fortune of Gilbert Bécaud risks being relaunched. On the death of the interpreter of I’ll pick you upthe relatives were taken aback when they learned that Gaya Bécaud was designated as the sole heir of his father on the will while the singer was also the father of four other children.
Gaya Bécaud obviously did not object. On the other hand, Kitty, last wife of Gilbert Bécaud, did not see this choice with a very good eye. She had therefore initiated legal proceedings to have the last will of Gilbert Bécaud annulled. Justice had finally given reason to Gaya Bécaud, relying on the artistic collaboration of the father and the son until the death of the singer.
The war seemed to continue to rage. For the 20th anniversary of the singer’s death last year, no tribute had been paid to the artist. What annoy the entourage of Gilbert Bécaud who then pointed the finger at the inactivity of their brother in the pages of Figaro: “He has a lot of archives without using them. He never gave us back 380 slides which have a strong emotional value for us. We invited him many times to Brussels, without success” was it specified. Gaya Bécaud would also have been the victim of a stroke having greatly weakened him…
