The president of the International Football Federation (Fifa) Gianni Infantino expressed, Monday, May 22, his “full solidarity” with the Brazilian player Vinicius Junior, victim of racist insults Sunday during the match of Real Madrid in Valence. The Madrid winger claimed he was insulted with a ‘monkey’ by the Mestalla crowd.

“Full solidarity to Viniciuswrote the boss of Fifa in a press release. There is no place for racism in football or in society and Fifa supports all players who have found themselves in such a situation.”

Infantino recalls the rules

Gianni Infantino also mentioned the three stages put in place during competitions organized by Fifa, in the event of racist insults and wished that they be “applied in all countries and in all leagues”.

“First, you stop the match. Secondly, the players leave the pitch and the announcer announces that if the attacks continue, the match will be suspended. The match restarts, then, thirdly, if the attacks continue, the match ends. will stop and the three points will go to the opponent”recalled the president of Fifa.

In a very tense meeting, finally won by Valencia (1-0), the Real striker Vinicius pointed the finger at a spectator, this fact triggering a scuffle on the ground. The Brazilian finally was expelled after a slap given to Hugo Duro. Many football players, including his coach Carlo Ancelotti or the Parisians Neymar and Kylian Mbappé, have sent him messages of support.
