The Régie des alcools des courses et des jeux announced the suspension of the liquor license of the bar Expat for a period of 28 days, in relation to several offenses, including cases of GHB poisoning which are still under investigation by the police.

The decision of the Régie des alcools des courses et des jeux (RACJ) was confirmed Tuesday morning, following the hearing held on Monday. The suspension will be effective as soon as the Service de police de la Ville de Québec (SPVQ) affixes the seals to the Grande Allée establishment.
At the time of this writing, the reasons for the decision were not yet available by the RACJ. However, the reasons which led, Monday, the establishment dismissed in hearing before the RACJ, were numerous: drugs, excessive consumption of alcoholic beverages, ambulance transport, non-compliance with health measures, overcapacity, acts of violence, brawl and disorder. .
At the beginning of October, The newspaper had reported episodes of GHB intoxication in bars in Quebec, mainly in the Expat.
An investigation by the narcotics unit of the SPVQ is also underway, concerning a problem of intoxication by GHB observed at the establishment. An investigator met some victims as well as some employees of the establishment. To date, 13 alleged victims of GHB poisoning, including a victim who allegedly suffered a sexual assault, have been interviewed.
Between June 4, 2021 and 1er October 2021, the police officers also intervened at the Expat for various breaches concerning acts of violence, fights and disorder. Authorities received 16 calling cards.
