Get your shovels! Quebec will be hit by a storm from Sunday to Monday

Quebecers will have to arm themselves with shovels as around fifteen centimeters of snow are expected to fall on the south of the province.

The far south of Quebec should first receive a mix of precipitation during the day including freezing drizzle or freezing rain while snow should begin to fall on Sunday evening, according to Environment Canada.

“Significant amounts of snow could fall starting Sunday evening in southern Quebec. Although temperatures will be near freezing, it is possible that quantities reach or exceed 15 centimeters,” the federal agency said.

In Gatineau, there should be an accumulation of snow of between 15 and 20 cm, starting Sunday afternoon. “At its heaviest, the snow could fall at a rate of 2 to 4 cm per hour,” we can read in a special weather bulletin issued by Environment Canada.

Road conditions could be affected by the rapid accumulation of snow, especially during rush hour Monday morning. Drivers will therefore need to be patient and plan their trips in urban areas.

Some areas could even receive up to 25 cm of snow.
