(Berlin) A 32-year-old woman stabbed several people on a bus in Siegen, western Germany, injuring five others, local police said Friday evening.
The suspect was arrested and there is no evidence of a “terrorist attack” according to the police statement.
Three of the five victims are in life-threatening condition, with one seriously injured and the other slightly injured.
“There is currently no further danger,” police said.
At around 7:40 p.m., when the incident occurred, “at least 40 other passengers were on the bus that was going to the Siegen city festival,” she said.
The attack comes at a time when Germany is still reeling from the Solingen bombing.
During a local festival seven days ago, a Syrian attacked the crowd with a knife, killing three and injuring eight.
This is a new knife attack in Germany, as Interior Minister Nancy Faeser announced on Thursday a ban on carrying bladed weapons in public gatherings and on long-distance transport.
Police shot dead a man suspected of attacking passers-by with knives in Moers, western Germany, on Tuesday.
