The German Defense Minister accused Vladimir Putin on Sunday March 3 of seeking to “destabilize” the country, after the broadcast of confidential exchanges between German officers on arms deliveries to Ukraine. “I sincerely hope that Putin will not succeed and that we will remain united”declared Boris Pistorius to the press in Berlin.

An audio recording of a videoconference meeting of high-ranking officers was broadcast on social media from Russia on Friday. There is an exchange on a potential delivery to kyiv of long-range German-made Taurus missiles, what would be necessary to allow Ukrainian forces to use them and their possible impact.

The German Defense Ministry confirmed on Saturday that the recording was authentic and had been “intercepted”. Its content is very embarrassing for Germany because Berlin officially refuses to deliver Taurus missiles to kyiv, arguing a risk of escalation in the conflict.
