In Germany, where inflation is also very high, the government made a shocking announcement that concerns the entire population: 9 euros per month only to take the metro, buses and regional trains without limit.
A simple 9 euro ticket is required for unlimited travel for a month on all regional trains in Germany. On the morning of Wednesday, June 1, at Berlin station (Germany)almost all the travelers had it in hand, and intended to take advantage of it. “I’m going to go mostly to my parents’ house, and on weekends I’m going to use it to go out a bit with friends”, testifies a German.
The same ticket is also valid to travel in the city, in the metros, trams and buses. It allows a big saving: in normal times, in Berlin for example, the monthly subscription for transport costs 86 euros by nobody. A boost decided by the German government to encourage the population to use public transport, in the face of soaring fuel prices. So, it’s the rush: already more 7 million tickets at 9 euros were sold. For now, this operation should last only three months.
