An unconscious young woman lying in the back of a pickup truck, surrounded by armed men. The video showing the lifeless body of Shani Louk in the hands of Hamas went around the world after the October 7 attack in Israel. LOn Monday October 30, the Israeli Foreign Ministry announced the death of this German and Israeli national. The German government has confirmed the death of a German hostage in the Gaza Strip, without details of his identity.

Earlier in the day, Shani Louk’s mother revealed the information in the German media RTL, specifying that her daughter’s body had not been found. VSIt was a shard of bone from the young woman’s skull which made it possible to identify her, thanks to a DNA comparison. A bone without which a person cannot survive.

Her mother had identified her on the networks

A German living in Israel for three decades, her mother, Ricarda Louk, launched calls for help to find her daughter the day after the October 7 attack. She recognized her in a video showing a young woman half-naked and exhibited in the back of a pick-up. In these images circulating on social networks, we can see men parading through the streets of Gaza and brutalizing their victims. One pulls his hair, another spits on his bloody head. The young woman is unconscious, lying on her stomach.

Ricarda Louk explained that she identified her daughter in the video because of her very distinctive tattoos and her long black dreadlocks dyed blonde at the ends. Shani Louk had been missing since October 7. Thanks to his identification by his mother, the hypothesis of his kidnapping during the festival was confirmed.
