Olaf Scholz assured Ukrainian President Zelensky that Germany was ready to respond alongside the allies and support Ukraine economically.

After Emmanuel Macron last week, Olaf Scholz, the German Chancellor takes the same diplomatic path but in the opposite direction: first Kiev before Moscow. To Ukrainian President Zelensky, he promises German economic aid, but no delivery of arms, and undertakes to respond alongside the allied countries in the event of Russian aggression. “No one should doubt the readiness and determination of the EU and NATO if Russia attacks Ukraine”he says.

Vladimir Putin replies with a new staging: “Is there a chance of reaching agreement with our partners on key issues?”. Sergei Lavrov, Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs replied that “the possibilities are far from exhausted but should not last indefinitely”. For its part, the Pentagon affirms that the Russian system has been further strengthened. Meanwhile, at Kiev airport, the influence is greater than usual, as American and British nationals leave the country.
