The main airports in Germany are blocked by a strike. More than 2,300 flights have been canceled and 300,000 passengers affected. The Verdi union wanted to strike hard with this first 24-hour strike. “We are short of staff. It’s time to raise salaries”, claimed Christine Bahle, the vice-president of the union. Ground staff are demanding a 10.5% salary increase to compensate for inflation.

Britain convicts pro-Russian spy

Security officer at the British Embassy in Berlin, David Smith was spotted filming the comings and goings of British diplomatic personnel on behalf of Russia. The man was trapped by the British secret service. He was sentenced to 13 years in prison.
