At the end of 2018, Charlotte Arnould filed a complaint against Gérard Depardieu for two rapes. She is one of thirteen women accusing him of violence and sexual assault. This Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at 9 p.m., Charlotte Arnould will openly reveal herself to Aurélie Casse. In an excerpt, the actress, pianist and dancer revealed that many people knew about all this. “Everyone knew. I don’t think it surprised anyone. We can no longer close our eyes. Charlotte Arnoud denounces an omerta
According to the speaker, there is an omerta which allows Gérard Depardieu to behave in this way without being punished. A little later in this interview, Charlotte Arnould notably mentioned the facts which date back to the summer of 2018. She was then 22 years old. Gérard Depardieu is presented as a friend of his father, manager of a hotel in Jougnes in the Doubs. The two men had known each other while filming.
“I have always lived knowing that Depardieu was close. He held me in his arms when I was a baby. There was trust and esteem. I go to his house. And quite quickly everything changes. I see him again a week later […] and the same thing happens” remembers the one who was then in a state of extreme suffering.
But Charlotte Arnould didn’t stop there: “I know that something very serious happened, but I’m going to take a little time to integrate it and raise awareness. That’s when I’m going to take the step of going to file a complaint”. It is therefore at the end of 2018 that she takes her courage in both hands by going to the gendarmerie of Lambesc, in the Bouches-du-Rhône.A case that brings together many more people?
“Among those who spoke to Mediapart, there are some for whom the facts are not prescribed. There are now thirteen known testimonies, but in my opinion we are well beyond reality”she confided, hoping that others will do the same thing as her.
In 2021, Gérard Depardieu was indicted on suspicion of rape and sexual assault. A decision confirmed by the Paris Court of Appeal in March 2022. For his part, the main accused has always denied the facts through his lawyers. For the moment, he is still presumed innocent until the end of the trial.JG
