The general public knows Gérard Darmon and adores him for having danced the Carioca with Alain Chabat in The city of littler, for having slipped into the skin of Amonbofix in one of the cinematographic adventures of Asterix and more recently for being the father of Jonathan Cohen in the series Family Business. In his private life, the 74-year-old actor is a man in heaven with his wife Christine, mother of his fourth child, Léna, 5 years old. Dad conquered by this late fatherhood, he delivered himself happily for the magazine Galaconfident in all sincerity of the difficulties that his couple faced before being able to conceive a baby.
Since 2000, Gérard Darmon has been in a relationship with Christine, twenty-five years his junior, and it was in 2014 that the lovers said yes. Then, three years later, Madame Darmon, then in her forties, gave birth to their first child together, a little Léna. Without taboo, the actor speaks about the arrival of his last child when he was about to cross the milestone of 70 years. “For fifteen years Christine and I were unable to have children together. She is twenty-four years younger than me. One day, at 43, she found herself pregnant“, he explains in Gala. A welcome child for his wife who had so longed to have a baby. He also adds:I already had three children, Virginie, from a first union, then Sarah and Jules from my union with Mathilda May. I wasn’t going to oppose this birth.”
Léna is therefore the sister of Virginie, 54, born of her marriage to Nicole Recoules. Then came in 1994 Sarah then Jules (born in 1997) whose mother is Mathilda May. On the Thierry Ardisson set in 2018, Gérard Darmon was not offended that the host asked him about the large age gap between all his children. “So you have a 1 year old daughter, a 50 year old daughter, a 24 year old daughter and a 21 year old son. Your oldest daughter is 50 years older than your youngest daughter!“, underlined the host. The actor then reacted with detachment: “Yes it’s absurd, my grandson is a year younger than my son… A kind of mess!“
Humor, certainly, but it is also with great seriousness that he raises his children. In Gala, he insists that he”try to instill [ses] children the sense of siblings”in order to be the proud patriarch of a surprising but fulfilled blended family.
