On May 13 in the town of Saint-Senoux near Rennes, far-right activists disrupted a reading workshop for children led by drag queen artists. On social networks, the small group L’Oriflamme Rennes claimed ‘action as underlined by “20 minutes”. For its part, the Breton municipality – which wanted to highlight gender equality – strongly condemned the “intimidating and violent actions” ultra-right!
As a reminder, around twenty far-right activists – masked – had come to the media library to express their anger. They also lit a smoke bomb before unfurling a banner that read: “In our children, teach our roots, do not impose drag queens”. The individuals ended up leaving the scene before the arrival of the authorities. This Tuesday, May 16, 2023, Cyril Hanouna and his team rebounded on this case which caused a lot of ink to flow.
On the subject, no one agreed. “I’m super pissed, I think there’s an age to everything”underlined Kelly Vedovelli opposed to this workshop. “The brain, it evolves over time and I think three to six years is too early. […]. We don’t have to force things. And to impose the new diktats like that, it’s unbearable”. “I don’t understand this fashion of wanting to put children in contact with drag queens”, added Guillaume Genton, taken aback. “These meetings, they have nothing to do with education… Drag queens don’t mean anything, often it refers to unbridled sexuality…”
“It’s a show”, said Cyril Hanouna. “Dragqueens are a micro-niche that may concern a few thousand people in France. Why are we pissing off all the children with that?”, insisted Diane Leyre’s sidekick. A point of view shared by Raymond Aabou. Something to annoy Valérie Benaïm: “You make an amalgam, you mix gender, sexuality, drag queens, you mix everything and you project your own fantasies! Children, they see characters who are playful, who are disguised, who are colorful who read to them stories !

Annoyed by the critics, Hugo Manos then delivered a personal anecdote: “Me when I was a kid, when I was little. If I had had the opportunity to see diversity. Maybe between the ages of six and fifteen, I wouldn’t have hated myself- even to be different […]. It’s educational for kids. […] The world of drag queen is artistic. You can be drag queen and be straight that has absolutely nothing to do […]”.
In turn, Géraldine Maillet praised this initiative which is making so much headlines. “You look at these people, we have the impression of being sick or plague-stricken, I assure you […] it’s very shocking […]”, analyzed the companion of Daniel Riolo. “I saw the poll, and it does not surprise me at all. I find that even 13% for the yes seems almost a lot to me today, since we are in a society of reaction and limit LGBTPhobe… “
An outing that set fire to the powder. “No”, decided Cyril Hanouna. “No you can’t say that Géraldine!”, “We say that for the children, not for us, we love them, let’s see”, annoyed Kelly Vedovelli. “You’re insulting us Geraldine anyway!”. “I say what I want, if Cyril wants me to be silent, I am silent…”, dropped the author with a sorry look. A heated debate commented on at all costs by Twittos.
