After the implementation of the “square net XXL” operation to fight against drug trafficking in the cities of Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône) or Lyon (Rhône), Gérald Darmanin went to Seine-Saint -Denis Saturday March 30.
In Seine-Saint-Denis, Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin continues his tour of “XXL square net” operations in the Paris metropolitan area. 33 anti-drug actions were carried out, leading to 319 police custody. Figures which swell the results on a national scale. The minister notably reported more than 1,738 arrests. 150kg of drugs were thus seized, including heroin and cocaine, or 2.4 million euros. “We had more than 20,000 police and gendarmes mobilized“, clarified Gérald Darmanin.
A “social fight”
Launched with great fanfare in Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône), the campaign continued in the North, in Lyon (Rhône), Dijon (Côte-d’Or), Clermont-Ferrand (Puy-de-Dôme) and in the Paris metropolitan area. “Place clean” operations aim to eradicate drug trafficking throughout France. They must also be accompanied by other measures, particularly prevention. “The fight against drugs is not just a security fight, it is a social fight.“, declared Gérald Darmanin.
