Gérald Darmanin requests the withdrawal of the residence permit of an imam from Gard

The Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin indicates on the social network “with a view to his expulsion from the territory”. “No call for hatred will go unanswered”assures the minister.

“On my instructions, the remarks of this imam were the subject of a report this week to the public prosecutor by the prefect of Gard”he writes, citing an article from BFMTV which evokes the imam of Bagnols-sur-Céze.

Increase in the number of evictions

This request for withdrawal of the residence permit comes in a context of an increase in the number of expulsions of people linked to radical Islam and deemed dangerous. We observe a 26% increase in 2023 compared to 2022, indicated Sunday evening on the social network Figaro.

“At the request of Emmanuel Macron, we have intensified the fight against radical and political Islam monitored by the DGSI: + 26% of expulsions compared to 2022”he writes.
