“Gérald Darmanin is freewheeling”, denounces an LFI deputy

Ugo Bernalicis, LFI deputy from the North and member of the National Assembly’s law commission, took issue with the Interior Minister’s remarks about the Human Rights League: “Tackling the historical association for the defense of human rights? We are still in the Republic, we are still in democracy?

“Gérald Darmanin, the Minister of the Interior is freewheeling. It’s nonsense”denounced on Wednesday April 5 on franceinfo Ugo Bernalicis, LFI deputy from the North and member of the law commission of the National Assembly, after the declarations of Gérald Darmanin before the law commission in the Senate: “I do not know the subsidies given by the State” to the League of Human Rights “but I think it deserves to be looked at in the context of the actions they were able to take”said the Minister of the Interior.

Gérald Darmanin was referring in particular to the presence of LDH observers during the demonstration on Saturday March 25 in Sainte-Soline, which led to violent clashes. The association then denounced an obstacle to relief by the Deux-Sèvres prefecture to prevent the Samu from reaching seriously injured people.

>> Demonstrations against the pension reform, clashes in Sainte-Soline… Does France have a problem with its doctrine of maintaining order?

“It’s French Trumpism. Attacking the historic association for the defense of human rights? Are we still in the Republic, are we still in democracy?”asks Ugo Bernalicis. “Because the rhetoric of the enemy within, as we have seen, as he developed it with these stories of intellectual terrorism, taking up concepts organized and put into circulation by the extreme right and Jean-Marie Le Pen in its time”, he adds. According to the LFI deputy from the North: “The assault is on, they are freewheeling because they have no political exit on the issue of pensions”.

The filing of the petition calling for the dissolution of the Brav-M

Referring in particular to the action of the Brav-M (Brigades for the repression of motorized violent action), Ugo Bernalicis believes that “it is a police force that is not at the service of the general interest”but “at the service of special interests, those of Gérald Darmanin and the government”while the petition calling for the dissolution of Brav-M on the site of the National Assembly has been filed, there will therefore be no follow-up to this initiative which will not be debated.

This petition launched by La France insoumise had collected 263,887 signatures. It is according to him “a grotesque maneuver” than to classify it, because “she could have” reach 500,000 signatures. This would have made it possible to organize a debate in public session in the National Assembly. For Ugo Bernalicis, reach more than 263,000 signatures “it’s already historic, it’s the petition that has been signed the most, it’s even the first to exceed 100,000 signatures”says the LFI deputy from the North.

“Rather than having dialogue, they make a classification without follow-up, this is how the macronists work, including in committee with a blow of 49.3 or a substitute of 49.3 to bury the debate”he complains. “And that you know that provokes?: escalation because the 263,000 people who signed the petition, they did so in an institutional, peaceful framework and we tell them: we don’t care about your opinion, what you do”.
