Gérald Darmanin calls on socialists “to be reasonable” and “to separate from La France insoumise”

More than a week after the second round of legislative elections, while France still does not have a new government, the Minister of the Interior believes that the Socialist Party has “a responsability” in the “institutional and political crisis” of the moment. Gérald Darmanin believes that he has too many political differences with La France Insoumise and the environmentalists within the New Popular Front, particularly on the issue of anti-Semitism, secularism, nuclear power, and support for the police. “Personally, I will not participate in a coalition that would work with the NFP, either in the government or in the parliament.”he said. He “doesn’t care” about alliances. “I am not afraid of being in the opposition. What interests me is being consistent with my ideas. Gérald Darmanin congratulated Gabriel Attal, elected president of the Renaissance group in the National Assembly, while he was the only candidate. “It is now up to him to show what political line we want to pursue.”he stressed.
