In a letter dated March 17, 2022, the minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin announces “that following preparatory work, the reconstruction of the Carmaux police station will be launched“. The construction site will begin in September 2023 and will be completed end of 2024. Amount of the provisional budget: 2.2 million euros.
Current dilapidated and unsuitable police station
The selected location writes the minister “is the one proposed free via the towns of Carmaux and Blaye-les-Mines“.
The Ministry of the Interior had on several occasions been informed of the dilapidated state and unsuitability of the Carmaux police station for the missions of the National Police. The situation was such that at the end of 2019 already neighbors complained that they could no longer sleep because of the noise from the occupants of the cells.
