“Liars.” French ministers Gérald Darmanin and Amélie Oudéa-Castéra were the target of a banner from Liverpool supporters during the Champions League meeting against Real Madrid on Tuesday (February 21st). The Minister of the Interior and that of Sports are decked out with the nose of Pinocchio by the fans of the English club, a clear reference to the statements of the government about the incidents observed on the sidelines of the Champions League final organized at the Stade de France , May 28, 2022. The match was already between the two clubs.

UEFA and its leaders are also treated as “liars”while their “primary responsibility” was recently established by an independent report.

Since last May, Reds supporters have accused the French public authorities of not recognizing the shortcomings in the organization of this event. Endless waiting, supporters and families sprayed with tear gas or victims of robbery… The device for maintaining order during this Champions League final had given rise to scenes of chaos in Saint-Denis (Seine-Saint -Denis), causing a lively controversy in France and England.

After this fiasco, Gérald Darmanin had initially incriminated the British supporters with the many falsified tickets, according to him. Amélie Oudéa-Castéra had pointed the finger at the English club, believing that it failed, unlike the Madrid club. “The fact that Real has supervised the coming of its supporters to Paris to such an extent (…) which contrasts radically with what the Liverpool club has done, which has left its supporters in the wild, has created a major difference”she defended.
