The verdict has fallen for Georginio Wijnaldum. Replaced through injury against Brest on Saturday (PSG 2-0 victory), the Dutch midfielder will be out for three weeks. The capital club announced it on Sunday January 16, less than a month from the knockout round of the Champions League against Real Madrid (February 15).

“Georginio Wijnaldum has a left ankle sprain with partial damage to the internal lateral ligament. A three-week unavailability is expected depending on clinical progress and controls”, said the leader of the French championship in a press release.
The duration of his recovery poses a question mark on his presence and his state of form for the clash against Real Madrid on February 15 in the round of 16 first leg of the Champions League.
The Dutchman was replaced at half-time in the Ligue 1 match won against Brest (2-0) on Saturday. The ex-Liverpool player was injured at the last minute of regulation time in the first period, following contact with Lucien Agoumé which earned the Breton a warning. “We hope it’s not too serious”, had then commented on his trainer Mauricio Pochettino.
