Georges Kiejman, lawyer and former minister, died at the age of 90

From the first to the last fight, Georges Kiejman, who died at the age of 90s the Tuesday, May 9, will have put his energy at the service of his clients and his convictions. He was notably the defender of the activist Pierre Goldman, accused of a double murder in a Parisian pharmacy. The lawyer had him acquitted in 1976. His other big files: the Malik Oussekine case, a young student who died during a demonstration in 1986, but also the caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad in Charlie Hebdo. He was also an adviser to Mohamed Al-Fayed after Lady Di’s fatal accident.

Funny, charming, but also provocative

This recognized criminal lawyer was then approached by the filmmaker Roman Polanski and Liliane Bettencourt, the former owner of L’Oréal. Funny, charming, Georges Kiejman was also provocative and scathing during his pleadings. This figure of justice was not, however, predestined for such a career. Son of a craftsman who died in deportation, he had a modest childhood and first did odd jobs.
