George Russell fastest on home soil. The Briton won qualifying for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Saturday 6 July. He finished ahead of his two compatriots Lewis Hamilton and Lando Norris. A small surprise was that general classification leader Max Verstappen never managed to get past the Brits and will start in fourth place on Sunday.

Among the French, Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly failed to get through the first session, finishing in the bottom three of Q1. The two Alpine drivers will start at the back of the grid in 18th and 20th position. Charles Leclerc did not reach Q3 and will start in 11th place in the Grand Prix on Sunday.
