The new Prime Minister is officially in charge of ecological planning. Elisabeth Borne gathered her government, alongside the head of state, for a first council of ministers, Monday, May 23. The case of “basins”, used in agriculture is, according to her, a good example. These water retention basins, requested in particular by the FNSEA, make it possible to irrigate crops in the event of drought: “You are going to build an infrastructure which will save a little time, but which will have a lot of emissions, which will have very negative impacts on biodiversity. However, we know today that if we do not protect the biodiversity, by boomerang effect, we will not only increase climate change, but also have big consequences for these same farmers.”
