The Lagardère group announced on Friday June 23 the appointment of Geoffroy Lejeune, 34, as editorial director of the Sunday newspapereven though his teams have gone on strike to show their opposition to the arrival of the far-right journalist, fresh from the weekly Current values. Geoffroy Lejeune succeeds Jérôme Béglé, himself appointed Managing Director of the magazine’s editorial staff Paris Matchanother title of Lagardère, whose absorption by Vivendi, the group of ultra-conservative billionaire Vincent Bolloré, has just been authorized by Brussels.

Near-unanimous strike

“The adventure is not over, we will soon meet elsewhere”, wrote Geoffroy Lejeune on Twitter, after his dismissal from Current values. Three days later, the revelation by The world of his possible arrival at Sunday newspaper launched an almost unanimous strike there, renewed on Friday, a few hours before the formalization of his appointment. The editorial staff fears a right turn for the newspaper, now controlled by Vincent Bolloré, a billionaire with reputedly ultra-conservative opinions.

At the head of Current values since 2016, Geoffroy Lejeune has made him a supporter of the far-right candidate Eric Zemmour for the 2022 presidential election, seven years after devoting a book to him in which he saw him elected. While running the weekly, he took on a “will to conquer” ideological, in an interview published on the Issep website, the school of political science co-founded by Marion Maréchal.
