The magazine Geoowned by the Prisma Media press group, is releasing a special issue on Wednesday, September 25 to celebrate its 45th anniversary. A long-term effort for its editor-in-chief, Myrtille Delamarche, and her team in order to bring together the most beautiful reports and photos of recent decades that best tell the very essence of Geo. “We revisited 45 years of archives in search of topics in line with our commitment that we have been reaffirming since the new formula of December 2023” she explains.

Indeed, in a more than gloomy context for the paper press, the monthly had to reinvent itself by reducing the length of certain subjects and varying the formats with shorter sections while retaining the stories. A profitable evolution for Geo: “LThe first issue made more than 66% of sales in newsstands and on the average of these issues, we are at plus 10%, compared to last year, on a market which is rather at minus 8%.“.

Geo has been echoing the evolution of the environment, the protection of the planet, the beauties of the Earth since 1979 and also tells the story of the citizens of the world through societal subjects. A promise kept over time according to Myrtille Delamarche since they have even taken out boxes “An incredible climate survey in 1984“in which we see that scientifically, we would not get anything out of it today, even though it took place four years before the formation of the IPCC.”In this survey, We also find a preview paper, where we are projected into the summer of 2023 in the office of the President of the United States in the middle of a heatwave. she explains, we were right. Unfortunately“.

Even if Myrtille Delamarche admits that the subscribers clearly do not come from “early youth“, Geo is gradually reaching a younger readership thanks to its digital version. We have a site that now has more than five million unique visitors per month. We are very present on social networks with 1.3 million subscribers on our various networks . They read us” she rejoices.
