Félicien Kabuga is the last presumed responsible for the genocide of Tutsis in Rwanda. He has been on trial at the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Netherlands, since Thursday, September 29. At 87, the billionaire is suspected of having put his fortune and his networks at the service of murderers in 1994.

Felicien Kabuga was one of the richest men in Rwanda. A billionaire who put his wealth at the service of the genocide of the Tutsis 28 years ago. At 87, his trial opened before the United Nations International Criminal Court in The Hague (Netherlands)Thursday, September 29. The once influential businessman has lost his luster. 28 years ago, it was he who would have financed the purchase of thousands of machetes for the Hutus to massacre the minority Tutsi. He would also have paid for the creation of militias which were the armed wing of the genocidal regime.

Felicien Kabuga also chaired the infamous “Radio des Milles Collines”, which broadcast calls for crime, and welcomed the number of Tutsis murdered. Let’s rejoice! The cockroaches have been exterminated”we could hear him say on this radio. Felicien Kabuga escaped justice for 25 years, protected and hiddenamong others, in France, thanks to his family, his connections and his money. He was finally flushed out in an apartment in Asnières-sur-Seine (Hauts-de-Seine) in 2020.
