Genie Awards 2022: Sandrine Quétier and Frédérique Bel shine in front of Laurie Cholewa!

Like every year since 2015, the Genie Awards have rewarded this Wednesday, January 26, three-color digital creation and the best special effects in cinema and television. Pubs, TV movies, clips and films were in the spotlight to launch the wave of awards which will end in February with the César 2022, presented by Antoine de Caunes.

The ceremony, which took place in the Val d’Oise, in the prestigious Casino of Enghien-les-Bains, had television host Laurie Cholewa as mistress of ceremony. This one, accustomed to the Césars and the red carpets of the Cannes festival, reunited with her former colleague Sandrine Quétier, who left TF1 in 2018 to devote herself to other projects. Radiant in a very classy black jumpsuit, the former host of Dancing with the Stars was very smiling.

Actors Thierry Godard (Gears, A French Affair, Emma Bovary…) and Frederique Bel (Don’t do this, don’t do that, La Minute Blonde…) were also present to reward the winners. The actress, sparkling in a colorful dress, posed for a long time for the photocall.

And this is the movie eiffel which emerged as the big winner of the votes, in the category Best visual effects in cinema. Released last August, it featured the fictional love story between Gustave Eiffel, played by Romain Duris and Adrienne Bourgès, played by Emma Mackey.

The film, which did quite well at the box office, outstripped a few other hits of the year like OSS 117: Red alert in Black Africa, Kaamelott or Aline. In the category of the best environment, it is the blockbuster The Last Duel who won the award, ahead of the mini-series Germinal, adapted on France 2, with Thierry Godard in particular.

It is also another series of France 2 which won the award for best visual effects in a TV fiction. Around the World in 80 Days, airing during the Christmas holidays, saw its costumes and special effects praised, once again in front of Germinal and Wanda vision. Finally, the honorary prize was awarded to Rob Legato, present on site. A great American special effects supervisor, he notably worked on masterpieces such as Hugo Cabret, titanic or Apollo 13.
