“Last Sunday, my daughter tested positive for COVID-19. I have cared for her since, and had symptoms on Monday, confirmed by a positive test yesterday. I will therefore remain isolated until Saturday, in accordance with the instructions of Public Health, ”she said on Twitter on Wednesday.

Thus, the Premier of Quebec, François Legault, and the Deputy Premier of Quebec, Geneviève Guilbault, both contracted COVID-19 less than a week apart.

The government had however made significant efforts to prevent such a situation from occurring at the start of the pandemic by ensuring that the two did not rub shoulders directly. In particular, two teams of ministers alternated in the Blue Room to answer questions from journalists.

Geneviève Guilbault’s announcement also comes at a time when several Quebec elected officials are suffering from COVID-19, particularly at the Coalition Avenir Québec.
