Geneviève Côté officially becomes Executive Director of the Festival international de la chanson de Granby (FICG). She replaces Jean François Lippé who left his post recently to take over as general manager of the Orchester symphonique de Drummondville.
Immersed in its 54th edition, which continues until August 27, the FICG announced it in a press release on Monday morning. ” [La] extensive experience [de Geneviève Côté], his spirit of leadership, as well as his vision and his passion, seduced us and will certainly carry our organization towards the achievement of its objectives. The Festival is in good hands! commented the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Yves Pronovost.
A lawyer by training, Geneviève Côté has been evolving in the cultural ecosystem since 1998. She notably worked for Productions J, SOCAN and in 2003 founded the company Frilance musique. She is also a lecturer in the Department of Music at UQAM and sits on the Board of Directors of several cultural organizations in Quebec.
“I am very proud to take the helm of [FICG] firmly rooted in its region, which has been promoting French-speaking music like no other and for more than 50 years now. In close collaboration with the board of directors, the team, the volunteers, the many partners and of course, the music community, I will continue with conviction the development of this flagship event of the Francophonie, and will watch over its success,” she commented.
Yves Pronovost took advantage of this announcement to thank the work done over the past three years by Jean François Lippé. The latter had taken the helm of the FICG in 2019, a few months after the departure of Pierre Fortier, then targeted by allegations of “inappropriate comments and behavior in the workplace”.
