Geekom’s Mini IT13, known as the “2025 Edition,” features the Intel Core i9-13900HK processor with 14 cores and 32 GB RAM, ensuring impressive performance in a compact design. Its familiar chassis comes in a blue-silver hue and measures 117 x 112 mm. While connectivity options remain unchanged, it includes various USB ports and dual HDMI outputs. Running on Windows 11, the Mini IT13 offers easy internal upgrades and is competitively priced, making it an appealing choice for users.

Geekom Mini IT13: A Compact Powerhouse for 2025

When Geekom invited us to test their Mini IT13, we were pleasantly surprised. Dubbed the “2025 Edition,” this mini-PC is powered by the Intel Core i9-13900HK processor, which debuted in early 2023. This chip boasts impressive features, including a base power of just 45 watts while housing 14 cores, making it a compelling choice for users seeking performance in a small form factor.

What sets this 13th-generation Intel processor apart is its direct production by Intel, avoiding third-party fabrication. This mastery over the manufacturing process likely contributes to Geekom’s ability to offer competitive pricing for a well-equipped mini-PC. With 14 cores, 32 GB of RAM, and a minimum of 1 TB NVMe SSD, this device promises robust performance packed into a sleek design.

Design and Build Quality

Familiarity greets users of Geekom’s Mini IT series, especially for those who have previously used the first-generation Mini IT13. The 2025 Edition maintains the same chassis design, featuring a blue-silver hue and rounded edges, ensuring it occupies minimal desk space with dimensions of 117 x 112 mm. While it is slightly thicker than some competitors at 49.2 mm, its compact size is still quite reasonable.

One noticeable aspect of the Mini IT13 is its weight. At approximately 650 grams, it’s a bit heftier than many mini-PCs, which typically weigh between 400 to 500 grams. However, this weight is justified given the need for an effective cooling system to manage the heat generated by the Core i9-13900HK’s 14 cores.

Connectivity and Accessories

While the design of the Mini IT13 remains unchanged, the connectivity options have not evolved since the original model’s launch. This is somewhat disappointing, as advancements in technology have made users crave more up-to-date features. Nevertheless, Geekom has ensured accessibility by placing ports conveniently on both the front and back of the device.

Users can find two USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 ports and a 3.5 mm audio jack on the front, while the back offers an additional USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 and a USB-A 2.0 port. Display capabilities are managed by two HDMI 2.0 ports and two USB4 ports, which enhance versatility with 8K output and 40 Gbps transfer speeds. However, the absence of a USB-C port at the front is a missed opportunity as it becomes a standard feature in 2025.

As for accessories, Geekom sticks to the minimalist approach. The Mini IT13 comes with a power brick that supplies up to 120 watts, a VESA mounting kit for versatile placement, an HDMI cable, and a basic user manual. Beyond that, there’s not much else included.

Software and Performance Insights

In line with many budget mini-PCs, the software environment is limited to Windows 11, pre-installed with no additional software applications. Upon startup, users are greeted with the usual Microsoft setup prompts, but the lack of extra software options can be a downside for those seeking tools for security or data management.

When considering performance, the only significant change in the “2025 Edition” is the switch from the Core i9-13900H to the i9-13900HK. However, both processors share the same architecture, core count, and power consumption. The good news is that the pricing for the Mini IT13 has dropped by approximately 200 euros compared to its predecessor, making it an attractive option for consumers.

With configurations available for either a 1 TB or 2 TB SSD, upgrading is straightforward due to the accessible design. Geekom has thoughtfully designed the chassis so that screws are retained, preventing loss during upgrades. Overall, the Mini IT13 offers easy access to its internal components, making it user-friendly for those wanting to enhance their setup.
