Real gross domestic product (GDP) edged up 0.1% in November 2022 in Canada, after posting a similar 0.1% increase in October, according to Statistics Canada.

Growth was observed in service-producing industries with a 0.2% increase, which offset the decline recorded in goods-producing industries (-0.1%). Increases were seen in 14 of 20 industries in November.
The lifting of all COVID-19 related border restrictions on October 1, 2022 “continued to support growth in the transportation and warehousing sector in November.”
Thus, for a third consecutive month, the transportation and warehousing sector grew (1%) in November. Air transport is the sector that recorded the strongest increase, with a jump of 4.6%.
Conversely, the accommodation and food services sector fell 1.4% in November, after increasing for three consecutive months. The same goes for the construction sector, which also recorded a decline (-0.7%) in November, and retail trade, which fell by 0.6%.
