War between Israel and Hamas: Gaza’s largest tunnel discovered
War between Israel and Hamas: the largest tunnel in Gaza discovered – (France info)
Israel announced that it had discovered Hamas’s largest network of tunnels. Located under the besieged Gaza Strip, it would extend for more than 4 kilometers.
The entrance to the tunnel is just 400 meters from the Erez crossing and an Israeli military base in the northern Gaza Strip. This is the largest Hamas tunnel discovered by the Israeli army, a rear base located in a strategic location, with a large number of weapons inside ready to be used in the event of attacks.
1,300 galleries in the Gaza Strip
Underground, there are 4 meters of galleries, equipped with a pipe system, electricity and communication networks. “The tunnel reaches a depth of 50 meters below the earth’s surface. This is an underground city of terror that Hamas dug and built instead of investing money in the people of Gaza” said Daniel Hagari, the spokesperson for the Israeli army.
Neutralizing these tunnels is one of the Israeli priorities. According to estimates by the Institute of Modern Warfare at the US Military Academy West Point, 1,300 galleries over 500 km would be dug in the Gaza Strip.
