(Ottawa) The World Central Kitchen organization plans to resume operations in the Gaza Strip on Monday, four weeks after Israeli airstrikes killed seven of its aid workers, including a Canadian.
The organization suspended food delivery to the area after three of its vehicles loaded with food from a nearby warehouse were attacked.
The humanitarian group says the vehicles were clearly marked and their movements were known to the Israeli army when they were hit.
Jacob Flickinger, a 33-year-old Quebec military veteran, was killed along with six of his colleagues.
Israel accepted responsibility for the event and said the strikes were unintentional. The country has committed to changing its rules accordingly.
The aid group says it plans to restart operations to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, but reiterates calls for an independent investigation into the deaths of its workers.
