Gaza Strip | Canada will participate in the humanitarian maritime corridor

(Ottawa) The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mélanie Joly, announced Sunday that Canada will participate in the humanitarian aid that will be transported by sea to the Gaza Strip.


In a press release published on Sunday, Mme Joly said Canada was committed to joining “the international coalition working to increase the flow of aid to Gaza through a humanitarian maritime corridor from Cyprus.”

The announcement was made following a meeting between Mme Joly and his United Arab Emirates counterpart, Abdullah bin Zayed.

In a series of messages published on the social network X, Mme Joly said the two ministers discussed the need to increase humanitarian aid reaching Gaza by all possible means.

On Friday, the United Arab Emirates, the European Union, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, Cyprus, the United Kingdom and the United States announced plans to open a maritime corridor to deliver aid humanitarian towards the Palestinian territory.

Several hundred thousand Palestinians suffer from malnutrition after five months of war between Hamas and Israel. Ramadan, a sacred period for Muslims, begins on Monday.
