Gaza or the competition of hypocrisy?

First there is Hamas, which is sneakily preparing its terrible terrorist attack on October 7. It is impossible to subscribe to it and see it as a truly justified action. Nevertheless, it must be recognized that, for the Palestinian people, it is almost the only power capable of effectively resisting the incursions and illegal and violent establishments of the State of Israel on the territory of Palestine, particularly in Gaza.

The State of Israel, officially a democracy, for its part, is behaving more and more like a “rogue state” in almost indiscriminate bombings in often very densely populated areas, sometimes even on hospitals and in its blockades of the the vast majority of humanitarian convoys destined for Gaza.

As for the United States, are they not in complete hypocrisy when they say they favor the “two-state” solution, while they provide Israel, without reservation, with weapons that sow destruction and death among thousands of civilians, especially women and children, in the hell that the Gaza Strip has become? What weakened credibility remained for their final “ceasefire” motion at the UN Security Council?

But does not the prize of duplicity, in the circumstances, belong jointly to Russia and China? They have just refused to support, at this same Security Council, under the pretext of political aims of the United States, the very latest call for a ceasefire in Gaza so that we can finally send food convoys to a thirsty population, deprived of food and already starving.

In such a dramatic context of international hypocrisy, the temptation to give in and let go is great. To turn away from a whole desperate people who are crying out to us… But we shouldn’t: our social conscience forbids us from doing so, as citizens and democratic countries.
